Looking to sign off the 2021/22 campaign with a flurry, Barcelona will make the trip to the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Sunday evening when they meet Getafe.
Starting with the hosts, managing to snatch a 1-1 draw away at Osasuna earlier in the week, Getafe appear to have just about dragged themselves over the finish line. However, while the Blues might have all but secured their La Liga status for another season, Head Coach Quique Sánchez Flores has seen his side show some extended issues throughout the 2021/22 campaign. Once again spending the whole of this year battling it out at the foot of the table, the Azulones have won just one of their last six La Liga contests. Now having to settle for a single point in their last three top-flight outings on the spin, it should also be highlighted that Getafe have gained a reputation for their struggles on home soil. With just a single win at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez since back on February 4th, Sunday’s hosts should be in for another stern test here.
As for the visitors, wrapping up a Champions League with time to spare, Barcelona should be smelling another chance to extend on their recent domestic purple patch. While the Spanish heavyweights might have been left stunned after Eintracht Frankfurt knocked them out of the Europa League last month, Xavi’s side have collected 12 points from their last five La Liga contests. Last seen storming their way to a 3-1 win against Celta Vigo earlier in the week, Barca will also be boosted by an impressive record against Sunday’s opponents. Picking up a 2-1 win when they welcomed Getafe to the Nou Camp back in August, they have won six of their last seven meetings against the Azulones.
