Two sides who really find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Championship table, QPR will welcome Reading to west London on Saturday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while QPR might have been disappointed to have only picked up a point against Swansea earlier in the week, that result shouldn’t dampen the mood in Mark Warburton’s camp. Continuing to gain a host of praise from across the Championship this season, the Hoops should be smelling a golden chance in west London here. Still sat within touching distance of finding a shock route into the automatic promotion places, Rangers also find themselves enjoying a six-match unbeaten run across all formats. Picking up victories against both Coventry and West Brom on their recent purple patch, they also extended on their FA Cup adventure against League One outfit Rotherham earlier in the month. Gaining a reputation for their rugged approach, QPR will be looking to lay down a real marker here.
As for the visitors, along with suffering a long list of issues behind the scenes, things are really not getting any easier for Reading on the pitch. Last seen getting hit with an action-packed 4-3 defeat against Huddersfield on home soil, Veljko Paunović’s men are firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. Looking over their shoulder and knowing they face a stern test in the capital this weekend, the Royals now find themselves in the midst of a five-match losing run across all formats. Likewise, along with a woeful 7-0 drumming against Fulham earlier in the month, Reading also saw their FA Cup run come to an abrupt end against non-league Kidderminster. Without a win to their name since the end of November, it is hard to see anything other than a routine afternoon’s work for the play-off contenders here.
