Brighton boss Graham Potter was full of praise for Tottenham after his side were dumped out of the FA Cup, and revealed what the Seagulls simply cannot do if they hope to win matches.
Brighton fought hard, but were their own worst enemies at times against Tottenham. Adam Webster in particular struggled, with the centre-half directly at fault for both of Harry Kane’s goals.
Potter’s half-time substitution replacing Adam Lallana with Joel Veltman and switching to a back five gave Brighton an impetus and rhythm they lacked for much of the first-half.
Yves Bissouma stood up tall throughout contest and the midfielder pulled Brighton within one of Spurs’ two-goal lead soon after the break.
However, a second Webster error helped Kane settle the tie soon after as Brighton bowed out of the FA Cup in the fourth round.

Speaking to the BBC in a brief interview after the match, Potter hailed Spurs as a “really good opponent with really good players.”
However, he also admitted his side weren’t at their best, and insisted the types of defensive errors they committed would make winning any match near-impossible.
“Our performance wasn’t one of our better ones and I thought Tottenham were good,” said Graham Potter.
“I have no complaints, we just weren’t at our level. You can’t give away three goals and expect to win the game.
“We wanted to go through but we have played a really good opponent with really good players.”
