Leeds Utd star Robin Koch reveals ‘exchange’ with different manager; new aim on the horizon

Leeds United centre-back Robin Koch has revealed his talks with a manager other than Marcelo Bielsa, and a new aim is on his horizon, per a report.

Robin Koch missed 16 league games on the spin earlier in the season due to injury and illness. He returned to the Whites’ side in December, and has played a full 90 minutes five times since.

Of course, the centre-back will want to help his team climb the table. At present, the relegation-threatened club sit 15th in the Premier League.

However, that is not the only target Koch has his gaze firmly fixed on.

The defender is eyeing a return to the German national team, per Sport Witness. What’s more, he has reportedly been in contact with Germany boss Hansi Flick throughout his injury troubles.

“I definitely want to be back at the World Cup in the winter,” said Koch.

“Mr Flick has already been in touch with me since his start and also checked with me before and after the operation to see how I was doing. We are in a good exchange.”

The 25-year-old has been a regular feature in German squads since making his debut in 2019. However, he was omitted from one squad in early 2021, and has not played for Germany since prior to the Euros.

A return to form at Leeds will go a long way to helping Robin Koch re-establish himself in the international arena.

And with the Qatar World Cup less than a year away, he will be desperate to showcase his true potential on the grandest stage.

Bielsa snubbed two late deals

Despite Leeds tracking a number of players in January, they ended up with no new players joining the club. However, Marcelo Bielsa could have signed two players on loan on deadline day, but snubbed both opportunities.

The West Yorkshire side were reportedly offered Donny Van de Beek and Harry Winks, but opted against the loan acquisitions.

Bielsa reportedly did not wish to saddle the club with high wages of players who kmay not be starters when blessed with a full compliment to choose from.

Leeds’ main target last month was RB Salzburg’s Brenden Aaronson. However, a January move failed to materialise, and they’re now facing an uphill struggle to finish what they started in the summer.
