The University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball program continues to shine as Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong have both been named to the 2025/26 Associated Press (AP) All-America First Team. This remarkable achievement, reported by our news portal, marks the first occasion since 2020 that two teammates from the same squad have simultaneously secured First Team accolades in women’s college basketball.
UConn, holding the prestigious No. 1 seed, now boasts the seventh pair of teammates in the history of the program to receive this distinguished recognition. This elite honor places Strong and Fudd alongside other standout players such as Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes, UCLA’s Lauren Betts, and Texas’s Madison Booker on the roster for the 2025/26 AP All-America First Team.
Recognition and Unanimous Selection
Among the select group, Sarah Strong distinguished herself further by being the sole player to receive a unanimous nod from all AP voters, underscoring her exceptional performance throughout the season. Meanwhile, Lauren Betts and Madison Booker also secured First Team honors, marking their second consecutive season earning this prestigious status.
In this context, the accolades awarded to Fudd and Strong not only reflect their individual prowess on the court but also enhance UConn’s storied legacy within women’s collegiate basketball.
