The Las Vegas Aces secured their eighth successive playoff appearance by defeating the Washington Mystics 83-76 at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Thursday night. Despite a strong effort from Mystics’ Shakira Austin, who scored 29 points, it was Aces’ Jackie Young who dominated the game with a season-high 32 points, guiding her team to a crucial victory in their rematch.
Jackie Young Powers Aces Offense
Young’s performance was instrumental in the Aces’ win, particularly in the final quarter where she scored 12 consecutive points. Her decisive three-pointer with just over four minutes remaining extended Las Vegas’s lead to 74-64, effectively sealing the game. Young’s shooting was exceptional, converting 10 of 14 attempts from the field (71.4%), including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, along with an impressive 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Alongside Young, teammate A’ja Wilson contributed significantly with 15 points and six rebounds, bolstering the Aces’ offense and helping maintain their advantage throughout the contest. Their combined efforts proved too much for the Mystics, despite Austin’s valiant scoring effort.
With this victory, the Las Vegas Aces continue to demonstrate their consistency and strength within the league, ensuring their place in the postseason for the eighth year running. The performance highlighted both individual excellence and team resilience in a tightly contested matchup.
