In a thrilling conclusion at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, Angel City FC secured a crucial 1-1 draw against Gotham FC thanks to a stoppage-time equalizer by substitute Taylor Suarez. This late goal extended Angel City’s unbeaten run to seven games and preserved their position in seventh place in the NWSL standings.

Although Angel City managed to avoid defeat, Gotham dominated much of the second half, applying sustained pressure that finally paid off in the 66th minute.

Angel City Answers Jaedyn Shaw’s Goal with Stoppage-Time Stunner

Jaedyn Shaw opened the scoring by converting a well-constructed move down the right wing involving Rose Lavelle. Shaw’s left-footed finish inside the box marked her 10th goal of the season, placing her among the elite in Gotham FC history as only the third player to hit double digits in a single campaign.

Trailing for nearly 25 minutes, Angel City responded with determination after Suarez was introduced in the 83rd minute. Capitalizing on a precise delivery from Emily Sams to the front post, Suarez calmly tapped the ball home, registering her third goal as a substitute in just four appearances.

Despite the draw, Gotham FC has secured at least one home quarterfinal playoff match this season. Angel City, meanwhile, earned a valuable point on the road as they prepare for their upcoming clash with the Denver Summit on October 17th.
