Boston’s next challenge arrives Sunday evening as they prepare to host the Washington Spirit, who currently hold second place in the league. The Spirit are coming off a disappointing 1-0 defeat to 4th-ranked Gotham FC in the Queens Cup, a match played before a record-setting crowd at MLB’s Citi Field in New York City.
This loss ended Washington’s own three-game winning streak and marked their first regular-season shutout since late March.
