After nearly 17 years of gameplay without an official sitting mechanic, Minecraft is set to introduce this long-awaited feature alongside new craftable cushions and disposable straw beds in its latest Preview build. Developed by Mojang Studios, these additions aim to enrich both the game’s decorative possibilities and survival strategies. Currently available for testing, the update is anticipated to be integrated into the main game by the end of the year.
New Seating and Survival Options Enhance Gameplay
The centerpiece of the Minecraft Preview 26.40.30 update is the cushion, a versatile placeable item that enables players to sit anywhere within the game world. Designed with builders and role-players in mind, cushions come in 16 vibrant colors, encouraging creativity in constructing المزيد immersive homes, villages, and communal areas. Crafting these cushions requires only three Wool Slabs of the same color, making them an accessible and cost-effective decorative element.
Alongside cushions, the update introduces straw beds, a novel bedding option tailored for explorers. Unlike traditional beds, straw beds allow players to skip the night without altering their respawn point, providing a practical solution for adventurers venturing far from established bases. However, these beds are single-use and cannot be deployed in the Nether or The End dimensions. Crafted from three Hay Bales, each set produces four straw beds, balancing utility with resource management.
In addition to these furniture items, the preview build expands the game world by adding abandoned camps within the Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes, further enhancing the survival experience and exploration opportunities for players.
