Montana Fouts delivered a commanding complete-game performance on Sunday, leading the Utah Talons to their second consecutive AUSL softball championship by sweeping the Chicago Bandits. The decisive 6-1 victory took place at Davis Diamond in College Station, Texas, as Fouts struck out four batters and limited Chicago to just a single run.
Dominant Pitching and Timely Hitting Propel Utah Talons
Despite facing a lineup that produced eight hits, Fouts maintained control throughout, allowing the Bandits only one run while holding them to an anemic 1-for-9 performance with runners in scoring position. This strong outing marked the culmination of a remarkable season for Fouts, who earned the 2026 Pitcher of the Year award and set a new single-season strikeout record with 63.
Reflecting on her approach, Fouts noted the importance of precision in the middle innings. “I could feel in the middle of the game I was a little bit المزيد intentional with locations,” she said. “They’re obviously a good hitting team and they’re going to take advantage of any mistake. So just kind of locking in a little bit المزيد on locations in the middle of the game, that helped kind of set the tone.”
While Fouts’ pitching was pivotal, offensive contributions fueled the Talons’ success as well. Series MVP Jadelyn Allchin was instrumental, driving in three runs throughout the sweep. She ignited Game 2 with a two-run homer in the first inning, quickly establishing an early lead. Adding to the momentum, Bri Ellis delivered a solo home run in the fifth inning, effectively sealing the victory and eliminating any chance of a comeback.
