Elena Rybakina and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka are set to lead a highly competitive field at next month’s National Bank افتح في Toronto. The prestigious WTA 1000 event, kicking off the hard-court segment of the WTA Tour, is scheduled from August 2 to August 13.

Among the 96 players entered, nine of the top 10 in the WTA Rankings have confirmed their participation. Alongside Rybakina and Sabalenka, the lineup boasts stars such as Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Jessica Pegula. Additional notable competitors include Mirra Andreeva, Amanda Anisimova, Elina Svitolina, and Karolina Muchova, rounding out one of the strongest draws of the season.

However, the tournament will proceed without the defending champion, Victoria Mboko, who withdrew due to an MCL injury sustained at Queen’s Club in June. Her place in the draw will be taken by Renata Zarazua.

Rybakina and Sabalenka Seek Redemption After Wimbledon Setbacks

Both Rybakina and Sabalenka are aiming to bounce back following surprising defeats at Wimbledon 2026. Meanwhile, Jessica Pegula looks to reclaim the Canadian title after having won the Toronto Open twice prior to Mboko’s breakthrough victory last year.

Adding further excitement to the tournament, wildcard entries have been awarded to two prominent figures: seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams and 2019 National Bank Open winner Bianca Andreescu. Their participation promises to elevate the competition and offer fans memorable matchups throughout the event.
