Alyssa Thomas, forward for the Phoenix Mercury, will be sidelined for one game following a suspension handed down by the WNBA. The league took the disciplinary action after reviewing an incident during الأربعاء’s matchup against the Indiana Fever, where Thomas was involved in a physical altercation with Fever star Caitlin Clark.

The suspension stems from a foul initially overlooked by on-court officials but later deemed severe upon video review. Just over six minutes remained in the second quarter when both players contested a loose ball. During this scramble, Thomas appeared to make contact by pushing Clark’s neck with a closed fist before stepping over her. Despite the referees not calling a foul during the game, the league’s review panel upgraded the infraction to a Flagrant 2 foul, categorizing the action as a “non-basketball act.”

League’s Review Leads to Suspension

This upgraded ruling means Thomas will be forced to miss Phoenix’s upcoming game against the Toronto Tempo scheduled for السبت. The decision underscores the WNBA’s commitment to player safety and its stance against overly aggressive conduct on the court.

Despite the incident, the Mercury managed to secure a narrow 111-109 victory over the Fever. Clark contributed significantly with 19 points and eight assists but was forced to leave early in the third quarter due to a back injury sustained during the game.
