Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, have secured the signing of Greek winger Christos Tzolis on a long-term contract, the club confirmed.

Although the transfer fee was not officially disclosed, British media outlets reported that the 24-year-old joined from Club Brugge for approximately £34 million ($45 million). Tzolis is expected to fill the void left by Leandro Trossard, who recently moved to Besiktas.

This marks Arsenal’s third permanent signing in the current transfer window, coming just two days after the club missed out on English midfielder Morgan Rogers, who opted to join Premier League rivals Chelsea in a record-breaking deal reportedly worth £117 million ($157 million), setting a new benchmark for a British player.

Rogers openly described Chelsea as the “biggest club in London” following his transfer.

From Greece to the Premier League

Tzolis brings a proven goal-scoring record, having netted 43 times in 108 appearances for Club Brugge. Notably, he featured against Arsenal in the Belgian side’s 3-0 defeat in last season’s Champions League.

His experience in English football’s top tier is not new. Before his move to Belgium, Tzolis played for Norwich City, joining them after winning the Greek Cup with his boyhood club, PAOK Thessaloniki, in May 2021. Following this, he had loan spells at FC Twente in the Netherlands and Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany.

In 2024, Tzolis signed for Club Brugge and played a key role in securing the Belgian title in the most recent campaign.

Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, welcomed the new addition, highlighting Tzolis’s adaptability as an attacking player. With 34 international caps for Greece, Tzolis is expected to bring versatility and experience to the Gunners’ squad.
