Mikel Arteta has reassured Arsenal supporters that there is no cause for concern regarding his future with the club, despite entering the final year of his contract. The Premier League champions’ manager, who led the Gunners to their first league title in 22 years, affirmed his commitment ahead of the new season.
Having secured the Premier League crown in May, expectations were high that Arteta would soon finalize a contract extension as recognition of his achievements. However, with Arsenal preparing to face Manchester City in the upcoming Community Shield match, no official announcement regarding a new deal has been made.
Since arriving at Arsenal in 2019, Arteta last renewed his contract with the club in 2024. Speaking to the media on Friday, the Spaniard expressed confidence that a fresh agreement will be reached in due course.
“They don’t have to worry about any of that, because I want to be here,” Arteta stated. “I am extremely happy. I feel very grateful to work with the people that I work with and when we have the possibility, we will resolve that. And that’s it.”
Focus on Transfers Over Contract Talks
Arteta suggested that his attention has been directed more towards Arsenal’s active transfer market rather than contract discussions. He encouraged fans to remain calm, insisting that the timing of his deal renewal is not a pressing issue.
“There is always another priority, I think! That’s the way we have been treating it, I think because everybody feels comfortable that the time on the contract is not going to be an issue,” he explained. “I think because my will, certainly, is to be here and I am very happy here. My feeling from the club is the same one.”
As Arsenal embark on their 2026-27 campaign, Arteta’s words aim to quell speculation and assure supporters that his focus remains firmly on the club’s future ambitions rather than contractual uncertainties.
