Dallas Wings guard Azzi Fudd, the 2026 No. 1 overall draft pick, will miss the remainder of her rookie WNBA season following arthroscopic surgery on her right knee, the team announced on Tuesday. This development brings an early end to a promising debut campaign in which Fudd quickly established herself as one of the league’s top shooters.
Knee Injury Sidelines Azzi Fudd for Rest of the Season
The injury that led to this decision first appeared in early August, when Fudd experienced knee soreness that forced her to sit out the Wings’ game against the Washington Mystics. Although she briefly returned to practice on August 11, she was unable to resume playing in competitive games.
On social media, Fudd addressed her situation directly, acknowledging the upcoming surgery and the recovery process ahead. “Most of you probably already saw,” she wrote. “I’ve got a small procedure coming up on my knee, and I’ll be out as I recover. I know exactly what comes next: rehab, put in the work, come back ready and better than before.”
