Former Indiana Fever forward Brianna Turner publicly challenged comments made by Indiana Fever General Manager Amber Cox regarding fan behavior during the recent WNBA season. Turner dismissed Cox’s assertion that criticism of the Fever’s fan base was unfounded, calling the claim “unequivocally false.”
GM Amber Cox’s Defense of Fever Fans
During the Fever’s annual exit interview, Cox stated that throughout the entire season, the organization had not ejected any fan nor recorded a single code-of-conduct violation. Her remarks came amid heightened attention following an incident where a fan confronted four-time MVP A’ja Wilson in Indiana’s first-round playoff series against the Las Vegas Aces.
Turner, who spent the previous season appearing in 35 games for the Fever before signing with the Aces, offered a perspective shaped by firsthand experience. She highlighted ongoing concerns raised by players both within the Fever and across the league about the fan environment at Indiana games, directly contradicting Cox’s assessment.
This is an unequivocally false statement. Players inside and outside the organization have repeatedly issued complaints with the Fever Fanbase. While it’s not all Indy fans, it’s certainly a trend. To say the attacks have “no basis in reality” is disingenuous.

Turner’s remarks underscore a divide between the organization’s official stance and the lived experiences of players regarding the conduct of some Fever supporters during games.
