Cheryl Reeve, head coach of the Minnesota Lynx, etched her name into WNBA history by securing her 380th regular-season victory. This milestone came on Wednesday when the Lynx edged out the Connecticut Sun with an 86-80 win at the Mohegan Sun Arena. By surpassing Mike Thibault’s previous record, Reeve now holds the title of the WNBA’s all-time winningest coach.
Minnesota Lynx Offense Seals Historic Record Win for Reeve
The contest was far from straightforward for Reeve and her team. The Lynx found themselves trailing by eight points during the first half, struggling to find rhythm against a resilient Sun squad. However, Minnesota mounted a strong comeback in the fourth quarter, outpacing Connecticut 26-15 to clinch the victory and the historic coaching milestone.
Offensively, guard Kayla McBride spearheaded the effort, delivering a game-high 23 points, including a flawless nine-for-nine performance from the free-throw line. Forward Natasha Howard contributed significantly as well, posting a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Following the game, an elated Reeve expressed relief at the culmination of the hard-fought win, stating with a laugh, “I am so glad this is over.”
