ESPN is set to highlight the Women’s National Basketball Association with the launch of Life in the W, a six-part documentary series scheduled to premiere on July 24th at 10 PM ET on ESPN2. The series coincides with the 30th anniversary of the WNBA All-Star Weekend, bringing renewed attention to the league’s top talents and their experiences both on and off the court.

Produced in collaboration with Uninterrupted and Cookie Jar & A Dream Studios, the docuseries offers an intimate look at three prominent WNBA figures: A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and DeWanna Bonner. Each athlete is portrayed through a distinct lens—Wilson as the reigning superstar, Collier as a rising leader shaping the future of the game, and Bonner as a seasoned veteran who has become an iconic presence in the league.

Behind the Scenes of WNBA Stardom

Through candid storytelling, Life in the W delves into the complexities of life as a professional female basketball player. Wilson reflects on the opportunity to reveal what lies beyond the visible competition. “A lot of people see what we do on the court, but this is a chance to show everything that comes with it: the work, the sacrifice, the joy, and the sisterhood,” she explains. The series aims to deepen viewers’ understanding of the demands and triumphs that define the players’ journeys.

Expressing pride in the project, Wilson emphasizes the importance of connecting audiences with the authentic lives of WNBA athletes, beyond the basketball spotlight. This documentary not only celebrates their athletic achievements but also sheds light on the personal stories and bonds that shape the league’s vibrant community.
