Nottingham Forest have appointed Oliver Glasner as their new manager, marking the club’s fifth managerial change within a single year. Glasner, who previously led Crystal Palace to historic success, officially took over the role on Monday.
Glasner departed Crystal Palace at the conclusion of the last season, having guided the team to victory in the UEFA Conference League—Palace’s first major European trophy. Additionally, his tenure included a landmark triumph in the 2025 FA Cup final, where Palace defeated Manchester City to secure their first major silverware.
Before Glasner’s arrival, Nottingham Forest cycled through four managers: Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche, and most recently Vitor Pereira, who was unexpectedly dismissed last week. Glasner replaces Pereira in an effort to stabilize and progress the club.
A Vision for the Future
Expressing enthusiasm about his new challenge, Glasner stated, “I am delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach. From my first discussions with the owner and leadership team, it was clear they possess a strong vision and place full trust in me and my staff to build a sustainable future.”
He emphasized the club’s rich heritage, highlighting Forest’s status as a two-time European champion with one of football’s most passionate fanbases. Glasner outlined his objective to construct a competitive team capable of elevating the club’s standing in the coming years, with the aim of making supporters proud.
Prior to committing to Forest, Glasner had been linked to several high-profile positions, including the managerial vacancy at AC Milan—a role eventually filled by former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim—and the German national team’s head coach spot following Julian Nagelsmann’s resignation after the World Cup exit.
The 51-year-old Austrian joined Crystal Palace in 2024 and leaves behind a legacy of significant achievements as he embarks on his tenure at Nottingham Forest, tasked with steering the club toward a more stable and successful future.
