Barcelona has secured the signing of forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of 29 million euros (approximately $33 million), including potential add-ons. The German international has committed to a five-year contract, keeping him at the Espagnol club until June 30, 2031, according to an official statement from the club.
The 24-year-old attacker is known for his pace and versatility, capable of playing as a central striker or on either wing. His arrival is seen as a key reinforcement to Barcelona’s frontline following the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. Additionally, the club has recently lost Marcus Rashford, whose loan spell from Manchester United has ended, further increasing the need for fresh attacking options.
Boosting Barca’s Attack Amidst Transfer Moves
Adeyemi’s transfer marks Barcelona’s second significant signing this summer, following the acquisition of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. Meanwhile, the club has also expressed interest in Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, who remains their primary target for the ongoing transfer window.
Before making the move to Barcelona, Adeyemi spent four seasons at Borussia Dortmund after transferring from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. During his time in Germany, he appeared in 146 matches across all competitions and scored 36 goals, demonstrating his consistent contribution at the club level.
Barca’s head coach, Hansi Flick, played a role in Adeyemi’s international career by handing him his debut for the German national team in 2021, highlighting the player’s rising profile on the global stage.
