Roger Federer is preparing for a heartfelt return to the courts of New York after a seven-year absence. The U.S. Tennis Association announced that the Swiss icon will participate in a unique exhibition event titled “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York” on the evening of August 25 at 7 p.m. ET in the renowned Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Federer, whose illustrious career boasts 20 Grand Slam titles including five consecutive U.S. Open singles championships from 2004 to 2008, has not played at the U.S. Open since 2019. His record as the only player, male or female, to clinch five straight singles titles in New York remains unmatched. This upcoming showcase will mark his return to the venue where he crafted some of the most memorable moments in tennis history. Additionally, Federer is slated for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2026.

Federer’s return will be celebrated alongside other tennis greats. Among them is Andy Roddick, the 2003 U.S. Open champion and one of Federer’s most notable rivals. The event will also feature former champions Andre Agassi and John McEnroe, adding to the star-studded lineup. The USTA has promised that fans can look forward to special guests and surprises throughout the evening, making the event a memorable tribute to tennis history.

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Federer remarked, “The U.S. Open has always been one of the most special tournaments for me. So many unforgettable moments of my career happened in New York, and Arthur Ashe Stadium has been a central stage for those memories.”
