For the first time in the history of the FIFA World Cup, the champions of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be awarded championship rings, a tradition commonly seen in North American sports. This landmark announcement was made by FIFA on Friday, marking a new chapter in football’s most prestigious tournament.

In addition to receiving the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy and gold medals, the victorious team will be presented with these exclusive rings on the day of the final, FIFA confirmed in an official statement. This addition aims to provide a lasting symbol of triumph that extends beyond the traditional awards.

Détails of the Championship Rings

The championship rings will be produced in a strictly limited edition of 2,026 individually numbered pieces, directly referencing the year of the tournament. Of these, only 30 rings will be reserved for the winning team members, ensuring exclusivity and prestige.

Fans will also have the opportunity to own a piece of World Cup history, as FIFA plans to release 1,996 rings as Official Licensed Products worldwide. Each of these rings will be authentic, numbered, and designed to commemorate the event.

The design of the rings incorporates one side featuring the iconic FIFA World Cup trophy, while the opposite side will be customized to reflect the identity of the winning team, creating a personalized memento. Every ring will be individually numbered, custom-fitted for the recipient, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

FIFA outlined the presentation process, stating that immediately following the final match, the winning team’s captain and head coach will receive temporary rings to mark the victory. The 30 personalised rings for the champions will then be custom-made and officially presented at a later ceremony, underscoring the significance of this new tradition in football history.
