The race for the Rolex ANNIKA Major Award in the LPGA rankings has intensified, with Nelly Korda maintaining a narrow lead over Haeran Ryu as the season approaches its climax. Ryu’s impressive form, marked by back-to-back major victories, has propelled her rapidly up the leaderboard.

On July 12, Ryu secured her second straight major title by winning the Amundi Evian Championship, following her recent triumph at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship less than two weeks earlier. These consecutive wins have earned her 120 points in the current standings, trailing Korda by just six points, who holds 126.

Haeran Ryu & Nelly Korda Rewrite LPGA Tour History

Korda’s strong position in the standings stems from her two major victories earlier this year at the Chevron Championship and the US Women’s Open. Additionally, her tied-for-eighth finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship contributed valuable points, helping her maintain the lead.

In contrast, Ryu did not participate in the US Women’s Open and finished tied for 12th at the Chevron Championship. Despite this, the achievements of both players are historic: for the first time in LPGA Tour history, two players have each won multiple majors within the same season, underscoring the exceptional level of competition.

Both athletes have previously claimed prestigious Rolex awards. Korda has already secured the Rolex ANNIKA Major Award as well as the Rolex Player of the Year title during her 2024 season. Meanwhile, Ryu was honored with the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Award in 2023, marking her rapid rise in professional golf.
