Following the critical and commercial success of animated adaptations like Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Netflix is now venturing into the beloved Persona universe with a new live-action series in development. Sources from Variety have confirmed that the streaming giant is working on this fresh adaptation, though details regarding which installment of the franchise it will focus on remain undisclosed.
Helming this ambitious project is Christopher Monfette, who has been named as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. He will be joined by the production company 21 Laps, led by Shawn Levy and Robert Atwood, who will also serve as executive producers. Additional executive producers include Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson from Story Kitchen. On the corporate side, Toru Nakahara from SEGA will lend executive producer support, ensuring close ties to the game’s original creators.
Early Stages and Uncertain Détails
Currently, the live-action series is in the nascent phase of development, with no script yet finalized. Consequently, no casting information has been released, and it remains unclear which characters from the extensive Persona franchise will appear. Netflix has chosen not to comment publicly on the project at this stage.
Despite the limited information available on the series, the Persona franchise itself continues to thrive. Recently, during the Xbox Games Showcase held as part of Summer Game Fest 2026, Atlus and SEGA unveiled new plans that underscore the enduring appeal and evolving future of the series, reaffirming its significance within the gaming community.
