Koei Tecmo and Game Freak have announced a significant update for Pokémon Pokopia, set to launch on August 5. This update marks the introduction of the game’s first Expansion Pass chapter, titled Bubbly Basin, which blends both free content and paid expansion features.
Central to the update is the addition of the new Dive mechanic, enabling players to explore underwater environments in unprecedented ways. This feature is unlocked when Ditto learns the ability from the Mythical Pokémon Manaphy, allowing it to traverse the ocean floor freely. Unlike earlier underwater segments, which were constrained by timers, the new diving experience offers unlimited exploration beneath the waves.
Expanding Horizons Beneath the Surface
The update significantly enhances the game’s building system by introducing underwater neighborhood construction. Players can now develop multi-level and suspended structures beneath the ocean, employing buoyant blocks that float at varying heights—a design innovation not possible on land. These new mechanics create a unique underwater environment to customize and inhabit, enriching gameplay with fresh spatial dynamics and architectural possibilities.
This Expansion Pass installment initiates a fresh story campaign, further expanding the world of Pokémon Pokopia and inviting players to immerse themselves in new aquatic adventures. Alongside the free content, the paid expansion promises to deepen the game experience, blending exploration, building, and narrative into a cohesive update.
Accompanying the announcement is an extended trailer, showcasing the new features and giving players a glimpse of the underwater realms and creative opportunities that await in Bubbly Basin.
