As July 2026 progresses, the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) has already commenced distributing this month’s benefits, reaching several groups of recipients. However, a significant portion of beneficiaries will need to await the SSA’s established three-Wednesdays payment cycle before receiving their funds.
The SSA’s July payment timeline covers two major programs: Social Security—including retirement, disability, and survivor benefits—and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Below is an overview of the payment schedule and the groups who have received their benefits so far.
Paiements Already Distributed in July 2026
On Mercredi, July 1, the SSA disbursed SSI payments to approximately 7.3 million beneficiaries. Unlike Social Security, SSI is a needs-based program aimed at certain low-income individuals, and eligibility does not depend on employment history.
The following day, Jeudi, July 2, the SSA released Social Security payments to recipients who began claiming benefits before May 1997. Additionally, those receiving both Social Security and SSI benefits were paid on this date as well. Normally, dual beneficiaries and pre-May 1997 Social Security recipients receive payments on the third of the month, but the payment was expedited by one day this July because July 3 fell on a federal holiday.
