Claude Guillemot, co-founder of Ubisoft and one of the five Guillemot brothers, tragically passed away following a plane crash in western France at the age of 69.
The incident occurred on June 19, 2026, when a twin-engine propeller aircraft crashed into a field near the La Baule aerodrome in the Loire-Atlantique region. Both individuals on board were killed. French emergency responders indicated that one of the victims was likely Claude Guillemot, who was en route to a regional aviation event. Although official identification was still underway, his family had been informed shortly after the accident.
Behind the Scenes of Ubisoft’s Expansion
While his brother Yves Guillemot became widely recognized as Ubisoft’s long-serving CEO and public representative, Claude was instrumental in the company’s strategic and operational growth. Holding a master’s degree in economic science along with specialized training in industrial computing, he bridged technical expertise and business acumen within the organization.
Throughout his tenure, Claude occupied several key roles, including executive vice president of operations and a member of Ubisoft’s board. Beyond Ubisoft, he served as CEO of Guillemot Corporation, directing the expansion of the family-owned hardware division that distributed gaming peripherals and accessories on a global scale.
