Vicky López secured the Kopa Trophy for Young Talent of the Year at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony held in London on Monday, marking her second consecutive win in this category since its introduction.

The FC Barcelona midfielder, who had just turned 20, continues to solidify her reputation as one of the brightest emerging stars in women’s football. Having won the award previously, López now stands as the only player to have claimed it in every edition since the women’s category began two years ago.

López Delivers Another Strong Season with Barça

Born in Madrid, López enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season that justified her accolade. Over the course of 45 appearances, she contributed 12 goals and 13 assists, playing a pivotal role in Barcelona’s dominance across multiple competitions.

Her performances helped the team secure titles in Liga F, the Copa de la Reina, the Espagnol Super Cup, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Known for her nimble footwork and sharp vision in attacking positions, López was a fixture in coach Pere Romeu’s starting eleven throughout the campaign.

Upon receiving the award, López emphasized the collective effort behind her success, expressing gratitude towards her teammates who she credited for elevating her game. She also took a moment to honor her late mother, thanking her for the valuable lessons she imparted.

Having spent five seasons with FC Barcelona, the Espagnol international continues to build an impressive career, demonstrating remarkable consistency and growth at the highest level of women’s football.
