Vinicius Jr will be absent from Real Madrid’s upcoming clash against Barcelona at Camp Nou this Sunday, as he serves the second match of a four-game suspension. The ban stems from an incident during Madrid’s recent La Liga encounter with Villarreal.

On octobre 10th, during the game at the Bernabéu where Madrid secured a 1-0 victory, Vinicius was shown a red card after a VAR review uncovered that he had pulled the hair of Villarreal midfielder Nathan Saliba just before scoring what would have been his team’s second goal. This disciplinary action triggered a significant suspension imposed by the Espagnol Football Federation’s disciplinary committee.

Détails of Vinicius Jr’s Suspension

The committee handed Vinicius a four-match ban, dividing the punishment into two matches for the hair-pulling offense and an additional two for his conduct towards the referee after being sent off. Real Madrid contested the ruling with an appeal, aiming to reduce the suspension, but their appeal was dismissed on octobre 16th.

Consequently, Vinicius will miss the following La Liga fixtures:

  • octobre 18: Real Madrid 4-1 Sevilla
  • octobre 25: Barcelona vs Real Madrid
  • Novembre 1: Racing Santander vs Real Madrid
  • Novembre 7: Valencia vs Real Madrid

This suspension arrives amid a challenging season for Vinicius, who has managed only a single goal in 11 appearances for Real Madrid so far and has faced criticism from supporters at the Bernabéu.

It is important to note that the suspension is limited to domestic league matches, allowing Vinicius to remain eligible for Real Madrid’s Champions League fixtures during this period.
