Fulham has secured the signing of Spanish striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid, as confirmed by both clubs on Monday. The 22-year-old forward will reunite with his former coach, Alvaro Arbeloa, who recently took the helm at the Premier League side.

Garcia enjoyed a breakthrough season last year, netting eight goals for Madrid, six of which came in La Liga. Among his standout performances was a remarkable hat-trick against Real Betis in January, demonstrating his growing influence in the Spanish top flight.

The forward has committed to Fulham until 2031, with the club retaining an option to extend his contract by an additional year. Reports from Spanish media estimate the transfer fee at approximately €40 million ($46 million), with Real Madrid maintaining a 30% sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Renewed Links Between Madrid and Fulham

The arrival of Garcia is part of a broader Spanish influx at Fulham this summer. Alongside him, 21-year-old attacking midfielder Cesar Palacios also moved from Real Madrid, having recently broken into the first team while Arbeloa was still involved at the club.

Arbeloa, who was appointed Fulham’s head coach earlier this summer, brings with him a wealth of experience from his time at Madrid. The Spaniard had previously worked within Real’s youth academy before stepping up as first-team manager after the dismissal of Xabi Alonso in January.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid, having replaced Arbeloa with Portuguese veteran Jose Mourinho, are undergoing a significant squad overhaul. This restructuring comes after the team failed to secure a major trophy for two consecutive seasons, signaling a new chapter for the Spanish giants.
