The Las Vegas Aces delivered a commanding performance in their first game following the FIBA World Cup break, defeating the Seattle Storm 114-77 on Thursday. Leading the charge were Jackie Young and A’ja Wilson, whose combined scoring efforts put the game out of reach early on.
Jackie Young exploded for a career-high 35 points, including an astonishing 22 points in the opening quarter alone. This remarkable scoring burst tied the WNBA single-quarter record previously set by veterans Diana Taurasi, Jewell Loyd, and Brittney Sykes. Young was nearly unstoppable in that frame, shooting 8-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Dominant Duo Powers Aces’ Offensive Surge
Joining Young, A’ja Wilson contributed 29 points, reinforcing the dominant display that helped the Aces build a substantial lead Seattle could not overcome. The 114 points scored by Las Vegas marked their highest offensive output since their franchise-record 118-point game against Atlanta in July 2021.
Wilson praised Young’s performance after the game, highlighting her relentless work ethic and skill. “She’s just playing out of her mind,” said the four-time MVP. “This is the Jackie that I’ve seen in the gym countless times when no one’s watching. This is the Jackie that has worked her butt off to prove why she’s… one of the best two-way guards in this league.”
