Following their victory over the Seattle Seahawks, the Washington Commanders are set to face the Indianapolis Colts in London this Sunday. However, the team’s starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels, will miss his second consecutive game due to injury.
Daniels sustained a dislocation of his left elbow—the non-throwing arm—during the Commanders’ Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on September 20. Despite the severity of the injury, he has managed to avoid surgery and has since returned to practice. This week, the 25-year-old quarterback participated in team drills on a limited basis, wearing a protective brace on his injured arm, signaling significant progress toward his recovery.
Encouraging Signs from Washington
At a press conference in London on Friday, head coach Dan Quinn praised Daniels’ rehabilitation efforts, describing his return to the practice field as “really impressive.” Quinn emphasized the importance of this milestone, calling it “a huge, positive step” for both the player and the team.
“He had a great week—it was awesome to have him back on the field in a limited fashion,” Quinn remarked. “We’ll assess where we are next week.” The coach also highlighted Daniels’ dedication and resilience, noting, “He is a true competitor on and off the field,” and commended his hard work behind the scenes to expedite his comeback.
Despite these positive developments, Daniels remains officially unavailable for Sunday’s matchup against the Colts, as Washington aims to even its 2026 season record at 2-2. Sources close to the team have indicated that Daniels is a strong candidate to return in Week 5 when the Commanders face the New York Giants.
