As July 2026 progresses, the Social Security Administration (SSA) in the United States has begun distributing payments for this month’s cycle, with the latest batch of benefits scheduled for release this week. Millions of Americans rely on these timely disbursements from the SSA’s Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs.
The SSA oversees payments for several benefit categories, including retirement, disability, survivor benefits under Social Security, as well as Supplemental Security Income, a program designed for low-income individuals.
July’s Three-Wednesdays Social Security Payment Cycle
Among the 71.3 million Social Security recipients nationwide, payments are typically issued based on the beneficiary’s birthdate, occurring on one of three Wednesdays each month. For July 2026, this payment cycle commenced last week and still has two upcoming payment dates.
- Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of any month received their payments on Wednesday, July 8.
- Those with birthdays from the 11th through the 20th are scheduled for payment on Wednesday, July 15.
- Individuals born between the 21st and 31st will have their benefits paid on Wednesday, July 22.
It is important to note that for recipients claiming Social Security benefits based on another person’s employment record, the payment date corresponds to the other individual’s birthday rather than their own.
Additional July Payment Dates
The SSA also handles Supplemental Security Income payments, which are distributed on a different schedule. For July 2026, SSI benefits were disbursed on Wednesday, July 1, reaching 7.3 million beneficiaries enrolled in the program.
