LaLiga has unveiled the kickoff schedule for the opening two matchdays of the 2026–27 campaign, set to commence on Saturday, August 15. The league’s start comes amid unusual timing, as much of Spain remains on summer vacation, just a month after the World Cup semifinals concluded, resulting in disruptions to the initial fixtures.
Only one match will kick off as originally planned: Alavés vs. Getafe, which will take place on Saturday, August 15 at 1:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. local time). This fixture will officially open the season without delay, while several other games have been rescheduled due to the congested calendar caused by the international tournament.
Phased Approach to the Season’s Start
In a collaborative decision among the clubs, LaLiga EA Sports will launch its season in two distinct waves. The first wave features teams whose schedules remain unaffected by the World Cup semifinals, with the exception of Celta Vigo. Despite having Borja Iglesias participating in the World Cup, Celta elected not to postpone its match against Osasuna, which will proceed as planned on Sunday, August 16 at 3:30 p.m. ET, ensuring a balanced fixture list.

- Alavés vs. Getafe — Saturday, August 15, 1:30 p.m. ET
- Sevilla vs. Rayo — Saturday, August 15, 3:30 p.m. ET
Postponed Fixtures Divided into Two Phases
Due to the proximity of the World Cup semifinals, four matches have been deferred and are scheduled to take place in two separate phases. Notably, Atlético Madrid vs. Málaga has been rescheduled to Friday, July 19 at 3:00 p.m. ET, a date specifically requested by Atlético Madrid, who faced logistical challenges related to concert setup and teardown at their home stadium.
