Before Saturday’s round, Coughlin’s longest streak of birdies was six in a row. She surpassed this personal best dramatically, completing her first round with a career-low score of 61, showcasing an exceptional level of precision and control on the course.
Reflecting on her performance, Coughlin noted that “everything just seemed to be going exactly how far I wanted it to, right at the hole,” highlighting her confidence in both her approach shots and putting during that stretch.

Despite the explosive start and the pressure of chasing Annika Sorenstam’s single-round scoring record of 59, Coughlin was unable to maintain the same momentum throughout the tournament.
