The Las Vegas Aces are set to host the New York Liberty in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2026 Commissioner’s Cup final, as the two teams face off tonight in Las Vegas. This game marks a continuation of their recent rivalry, with New York entering as the No. 7 seed and Las Vegas holding the No. 2 spot.
Despite their current standings, the Liberty have struggled lately, dropping six of their past ten games. During this challenging stretch, they have allowed an average of 94.1 points per game. Forward Breanna Stewart, however, has remained a consistent force, averaging 21.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest.
Meanwhile, the Aces have been surging, compiling a 7-3 record over the same period. Their performance has been propelled by A’ja Wilson, who is putting up impressive numbers with 26.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.
Liberty’s Edge This Season
Although Las Vegas has the better recent record, New York holds a slight advantage in their head-to-head matchups this season. The Liberty claimed two victories over the Aces last month, including a significant 93-85 win in the Commissioner’s Cup final.
Both teams come into tonight’s game on positive momentum following wins after the post-WNBA All-Star Weekend. Las Vegas dominated No. 9 Portland with a 98-83 victory, while New York edged No. 12 Los Angeles 113-109 on Monday.
Reflecting on the season so far, Stewart emphasized the importance of focus moving forward. Speaking to the New York Post, she noted, “We have what we need to get it done. We need to just really focus on the now. I feel like the first half of the season there was a little bit of hesitancy from everybody… I don’t want to have excuses.”
