Responding to claims about his defensive commitment, Mbappé dismissed the accusations as a natural consequence of prolonged excellence. He stated, “I don’t think it’s normal, but it’s the life of someone who has been close to excellence for years. Everyone has known for years what I can do. And I think that’s where you enter the human framework.” He elaborated on how public perception tends to focus disproportionately on a player’s shortcomings rather than their consistent achievements, noting, “It’s human to always look at what someone is not doing. When he has been doing it for 10 years, we no longer look at what he does. So we always try to focus on what he doesn’t do. From that moment on, it’s not something I take personally.”
