The Naruto franchise is gearing up for a fresh wave of content as creator Masashi Kishimoto unveiled several exciting projects during the New York Comic Con 2026 panel. Among the announcements were a new manga tentatively titled Shadow Rising, an animated crossover with the 1990s series Ninku, and an update on the upcoming live-action adaptation helmed by director Destin Daniel Cretton.

While the new manga remains shrouded in mystery, with storylines and characters yet to be disclosed, Kishimoto himself is closely involved in its creation. Fans eager for further details will have to wait until the Naruto Super Stage at Jump Festa 2027, where more information is expected to be shared, as hinted at in the official YouTube teaser.

An Unlikely Alliance: Naruto and Ninku in a New Animated Crossover

In addition to the new manga, the panel introduced Naruto x Ninku, an animated crossover that merges two beloved manga and anime worlds. The storyline follows Team 7—comprising Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura—as they embark on a mission assigned by Kakashi. Unable to participate himself, Kakashi appoints Naruto as the acting leader, sparking Naruto’s determination to ensure the mission’s success.

However, the mission takes an unexpected turn when Team 7 finds themselves transported to a strange new world. There, they encounter a mysterious boy named Fūsuke, distinguished by his frog-like appearance. The narrative sets the stage for a compelling adventure as the trio navigates this unfamiliar realm, confronting challenges that await them beyond their known universe.
