At the 2026 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship held at Hazeltine National Golf Club, Nelly Korda, the world No. 1, was unable to complete a historic run of three consecutive major victories. Despite a promising start, Korda’s campaign ended with a tie for eighth place at 6 under par.
Korda began the final round within three strokes of the lead and maintained momentum with a birdie on the 10th hole, keeping pressure on the leaders. However, challenging conditions caused by a morning downpour softened the greens, and an inconsistent putting performance ultimately hindered her progress during the tournament.
Challenges at Hazeltine Halt Korda’s Streak
Throughout the four rounds, Korda struggled with her putting, recording five three-putts. Her troubles culminated on the 16th hole, where she found water and double-bogeyed, finishing the day with a 1-over 73. These setbacks prevented her from mounting a strong finish and securing another major title.
Despite the significance of her attempt to join golfing legends Inbee Park (2013) and Babe Zaharias (1950) as the only players to win the first three majors of the season, Korda downplayed the historical context. “You guys made that such a big thing. I didn’t think about that,” she remarked, emphasizing her focus on playing one shot at a time rather than tracking the leaderboard.
While Korda’s quest for a third straight major was halted, Brooke Henderson delivered a strong performance, finishing in a tie for third place. Henderson’s consistent play throughout the championship secured her a top-tier position, underscoring her status among the elite in women’s golf.
