Newcastle United have secured the long-term signing of Spanish midfielder Nico Gonzalez from Manchester City, marking their seventh senior acquisition this summer. The 24-year-old will don the number six jersey as he joins the ranks at St. James’ Park.
Gonzalez’s journey to Newcastle follows his move to Manchester City in February 2025, after rising through the ranks at Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy and a stint with Porto. His transition to the Premier League club comes with high expectations, given his background and experience.

Reflecting on his previous experiences at St. James’ Park, he added, “I’ve experienced playing at St. James’ Park twice with Manchester City and it was really tough. The atmosphere was amazing and the fans are so passionate. I can’t wait to experience that as a home player.”
