NNormal, the innovative footwear brand co-founded in 2022 by Kilian Jornet, renowned trail-running athlete, has published the results of a detailed durability study on its Kjerag 02 trail shoe. According to the report, this model boasts an impressive average lifespan of 1,096 kilometers (681 miles), a figure that highlights its endurance capabilities for long-distance runners.
The durability assessment enlisted the participation of 172 testers who wore the shoes under authentic running conditions. The research methodology incorporated a multifaceted approach, including runner feedback surveys, photographic documentation of wear patterns, and a robust statistical regression model validated by IESE University. This comprehensive analysis was designed to accurately determine the point at which the Kjerag 02 reaches the end of its functional life.
“Our evaluation combined rigorous data collection from a diverse group of runners, visual inspections, and advanced statistical modeling,” explained Sito Luis Salas, CEO of NNormal. “We are now eager to contrast these findings with a transparent, real-world verification.”
The study’s conclusion reinforces the shoe’s reputation as a durable trail-running option, capable of sustaining its performance characteristics across extensive mileage. This durability stands as a key attribute for athletes seeking reliable footwear on demanding terrain.
Putting durability to the ultimate test
In a bid to substantiate the study’s claims, NNormal has introduced a bold challenge open to runners worldwide. Participants are invited to cover 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) within a span of just 10 days wearing a single pair of Kjerag 02 shoes. This challenge aims to push the shoes to their limits and generate additional data on their endurance in real-life conditions.
