Paris Saint-Germain secured a 3-1 victory over Le Mans at home in a Ligue 1 encounter on Saturday, with Maghnes Akliouche scoring his first goal for the club. Meanwhile, league leaders AS Monaco were held to a 2-2 draw by Toulouse, maintaining a narrow lead at the top of the table.
The match at Parc des Princes began with PSG taking the lead through a penalty successfully converted by Lucas Beraldo. However, Le Mans responded in the second half as Louis Mafouta equalized with a powerful strike, marking his fourth goal of the Ligue 1 season.
Reacting to the stalemate, PSG’s coach Luis Enrique introduced four substitutions just before the hour mark. Among the changes, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia quickly made an impact by scoring two minutes after entering the pitch, capitalizing on a rebound to restore PSG’s advantage.
Akliouche’s Milestone and Late Drama
Shortly after, Maghnes Akliouche sealed the victory with a third goal, marking a significant moment as his first since transferring from Monaco earlier this season. Despite PSG being awarded a penalty in stoppage time, Desire Doue’s attempt was denied by Le Mans goalkeeper Nicolas Kocik, preserving the 3-1 final scoreline.
This result places PSG fifth in the Ligue 1 standings, accumulating 11 points from six matches.
In the meantime, AS Monaco saw a promising 2-0 first-half lead against Toulouse slip away. Monaco’s goals came from Edan Diop, who opened the scoring, and a second by Matthis Abline, his first goal for Monaco following a transfer from Nantes.
After halftime, Toulouse fought back with a penalty goal by Casper Tengstedt and a late equalizer from teenager Sion Oppong, who scored his inaugural goal for the club. The draw leaves Monaco on 14 points, just one ahead of Lille, who briefly claimed the top spot following a narrow 1-0 victory at home.
