PWHL Hamilton has taken a significant step in assembling its inaugural roster for the upcoming 2026/27 season by signing veteran defender Zoe Boyd to a two-year contract that extends through the 2027/28 campaign. This acquisition marks an important milestone for the expansion team as it continues to shape its lineup ahead of its debut.

As the first player added in Phase 3 of the expansion team distribution process, Boyd is the sixth official player to join the Ontario-based squad. Her arrival brings not only experience but also crucial defensive strength to Hamilton’s back end.

Zoe Boyd’s PWHL Experience Boosts Hamilton Defense

At 25 years old, Boyd’s professional career has seen her split time between the Ottawa and Boston teams. Last season, she appeared in 12 games with the Boston Fleet before an upper-body injury prematurely ended her campaign. Now fully recovered, Boyd is poised to provide dependable defensive depth for Hamilton.

Her signing also comes with valuable familiarity for the new team. Boyd will reunite with former Boston teammate Alina Müller, as well as former Ottawa players Emily Clark and Brianne Jenner, potentially accelerating Hamilton’s cohesion on the ice.

Beyond her playing career, Boyd is known off the ice as the host of the popular women’s sports and culture podcast No Straight Answers with Zoe Boyd, adding another dimension to her profile.

Meanwhile, PWHL Hamilton’s general manager, Meghan Duggan, continues to meticulously craft a competitive roster from the ground up. With the Phase 3 signing deadline closing on Friday afternoon, more high-profile moves are anticipated as the team finalizes its lineup for the league’s upcoming season.
