Production on the eagerly awaited The Batman II faced an unexpected pause recently, as director Matt Reeves had to step away due to a sensitive family matter. However, the filming hiatus was short-lived when acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh was brought in to complete principal photography, with Reeves overseeing the process remotely.
Speaking to GamesRadar, Robert Pattinson, who stars in the film, expressed admiration for Soderbergh’s involvement, calling his decision “completely selfless.” Pattinson highlighted how generous it was of Soderbergh to step in at such a crucial moment.
A Collaborative Effort to Complete the Sequel
“I am so happy he’s come on to help Matt,” Pattinson shared. “It’s incredibly generous of him – and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless. I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we’re almost done. So for someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit,’” Pattinson explained. “And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”
Regarding the timeline, Pattinson confirmed that production had already resumed, adding, “I think they’re in production already, and I’m starting in a couple of days.” His remarks suggest that filming is swiftly moving forward under this new arrangement, with both directors collaborating to ensure the movie’s completion despite the unforeseen interruption.
