The national team midfielder reflects on Real Madrid’s pursuit during the summer transfer window.
Rodrigo Hernández, the Barcelona midfielder, recently recounted the intense period when a move to Real Madrid seemed imminent. In an interview on El Partidazo de Cope, he emphasized that the failure to join the La Liga giants was not due to a lack of effort or interest from Madrid’s side.
“From my perspective, I must say that Madrid showed interest right from the start,” Rodri stated. “Their behavior was exemplary, and the offers they put forward clearly demonstrated they were pursuing me. I want to make that very clear.”
Madrid’s Commitment to Signing Rodri
When pressed about whether Real Madrid gave their all to secure his signature, Rodri responded thoughtfully: “I don’t exactly know what it means to go 100%, but it’s obvious they were interested and they went all in within their means, showing their desire to bring me in, which I truly appreciate. I spoke with several people from the club during that time.”
Although he reflected openly on the negotiations, Rodri chose not to disclose if he had direct contact with Florentino Pérez, the club’s president, throughout those weeks. “I spoke with people from there,” he said, leaving the details at that.
