On Monday, August 3, 2026, two distinct groups of Social Security recipients across the United States will receive their monthly payments, marking the start of the distribution schedule for August benefits by the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Distribution Details for August 3

Among those scheduled to receive their Social Security payments tomorrow are beneficiaries who began collecting their benefits prior to May 1997. This long-term group will see their August installments issued as part of the SSA’s routine disbursement process.

Additionally, recipients who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will also have their Social Security payments processed on this date. Unlike Social Security, which is based on work history and contributions, SSI is a needs-based program aimed at assisting low-income individuals, regardless of their employment record.

It is noteworthy that SSI benefits for August were distributed earlier, on Friday, July 31. Typically paid on the first day of each month, the SSI payment was advanced by one day this year due to August 1 falling on a Saturday. The average monthly SSI payment stands at $738.10.

The Social Security Administration provides average figures for the various types of monthly benefits:

  • Retirement benefits: $2,029.92
  • Disability benefits: $1,496.16
  • Survivor benefits: $1,631.39

These amounts reflect the average payments issued to eligible recipients as of the current cycle.
