This week, the Social Security Administration (SSA) is set to distribute the next round of Social Security payments for August 2026. This ongoing monthly schedule ensures that millions of beneficiaries across the United States receive their entitled benefits in a timely manner.
Payment Schedule for August 2026
Among the approximately 71 million Social Security recipients nationwide, payment dates are determined by the beneficiary’s date of birth. For August, benefits will be disbursed on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of the month, with the upcoming payment on Wednesday, August 12, marking the month’s second Wednesday.
Specifically, individuals born between the 1st and 10th of any month are scheduled to receive their payments on August 12. The full payment timetable for August 2026 is as follows:
- Beneficiaries born on the 1st through 10th of any month: Wednesday, August 12
- Born on the 11th through 20th of any month: Wednesday, August 19
- Born on the 21st through 31st of any month: Wednesday, August 26
It is important to note that for those receiving Social Security benefits based on another person’s employment record, the SSA uses the date of birth of that individual to determine the payment date.
Earlier in the month, on August 3, a separate group of long-term beneficiaries also received payments. These recipients have been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997, reflecting a distinct payment schedule for this subset of individuals.
