Next week marks the beginning of the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) July 2026 payment cycle, with monthly benefits set to be distributed to millions of eligible recipients across the United States.

Who Will Receive Social Security Payments on July 8?

The SSA manages benefits for approximately 71.2 million Social Security recipients, scheduling payments on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of each month based on the beneficiary’s birth date. For the month of July 2026, the first installment falls on Wednesday, July 8, which corresponds to recipients born between the 1st and 10th of any month.

The full payment schedule for July 2026 is as follows:

  • Recipients born on the 1st through 10th receive payments on July 8
  • Recipients born on the 11th through 20th receive payments on July 15
  • Recipients born on the 21st through 31st receive payments on July 22

It is important to note that for individuals receiving Social Security benefits based on another person’s work record, the SSA uses the birth date of that other individual to determine the payment schedule.

Additional July 2026 Social Security Payment Dates

Beyond the standard three-Wednesday schedule, the SSA also processes payments on other specific dates. For instance, on July 2, Social Security benefits will be disbursed to certain long-term recipients. These beneficiaries, who enrolled in Social Security prior to May 1997, receive their payments on this earlier date, separate from the general monthly cycle.
