Tottenham Hotspur have secured the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial fee reported to be around £75 million ($102 million). This significant acquisition pushes Spurs’ total spending in the current transfer window beyond £300 million.
Despite spending two seasons at Manchester City, the 22-year-old attacker struggled to cement a place in the first team. Tottenham, however, believe Savinho’s speed and creativity will bolster their offensive options after a difficult campaign that saw them narrowly avoid relegation from the Premier League last season.
In a statement following his transfer, Savinho expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating, “It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world. As soon as I spoke to the head coach, I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”
