Alex Eala Loses Grip After Strong Start
Eala began the match strongly, capturing the first set and establishing a 4-2 lead in the second. However, Prozorova mounted an impressive comeback, winning five of the next six games to force a decisive third set. She then maintained momentum, pulling ahead to clinch the match.
This win marked a significant milestone for the 22-year-old Prozorova, who recorded her first career victory against a Top 20 opponent. Prior to this tournament, she had only three wins at the WTA Tour level. Prozorova’s resilience has been a defining feature of her Singapore campaign, having rallied from a set and a break down to overcome Sofia Costoulas in the opening round.
For Eala, the loss represents a rare setback this season. The Filipino player had maintained an impressive streak, not losing to any opponent ranked outside the Top 100 since September 2025, when she was defeated by Lulu Sun at the Jingshan WTA 125 event.
